What does it take to be number one?
When you search something on Google, the list you are shown is called a search engine results page or SERP. They are often made up of three different sections. The first section is paid ads. Businesses can pay to be the top result when a certain keyword or phrase is searched. The next section may be a list of local results. The third section is a list of non-paid results. To get your website on Google, first, it has to be indexed by Google. To see if it has been, type site:yourdomain.com into the Google search box, then replace yourdomain.com with the actual domain name of your website. If your web pages are in the results list, then your site has been indexed. So, what if your website is on Google, but it’s nowhere near the first page? The easiest way to get your website on the first page of Google is to pay for an ad. You can choose how much you want to pay and if somebody clicks on your ad when they search for your chosen keywords, you pay that amount of money. If you want your website to appear more organically on page one of Google’s results, a few ways are to make your website user-friendly and smartphone compatible with pages that load quickly. Each page should have keywords and phrases that are relevant to the topic. You should own your domain name and include keywords in it as well. Your pages should be secure and safe to give visitors peace of mind, and your website and web pages URLs should be short and uncomplicated.
